The charity, Marie Curie Cancer Care, and SMS delivery provider Textlocal have announced a partnership to generate cutting-edge SMS marketing campaigns for the charity’s events and appeals. The partnership is the first of its kind for both organisations and will see Textlocal providing a mobile marketing programme, SMS infrastructure and expertise to the charity, enabling it to send texts, receive donations and collect data, all via mobile.
The two organisations will work together to find innovative, creative ways of using texts to communicate with supporters of Marie Curie Cancer Care’s flagship appeals and events, including the Great Daffodil Appeal, Blooming Great Tea Party and Walk Ten. Besides boosting fundraising and increasing participation at events, a key objective of the partnership is to enhance the experience of the charity’s supporters and reach new audiences.
Amanda Johnson, corporate development manager at Marie Curie Cancer Care, says: “We’re very excited to be working with Textlocal. Mobile phones are more central than ever to people’s lives, and it’s crucial that we take full advantage of this when communicating with our supporters. We’re confident that by teaming up with Textlocal, we can engage with more people by text more effectively than ever, and help to make sure our individual supporters know they are each crucial to helping us provide more free nursing care at home to people with terminal illnesses. The Textlocal team are full of ideas and enthusiasm and we look forward to building on our own knowledge to make our SMS campaigns some of the most creative and effective in the sector.”
Textlocal managing director Darren Daws says the firm wanted to support a charity in a way that was meaningful and sustainable, as part of its social mission. “So many of us are touched by the work of Marie Curie Cancer Care at one time or another, and we are committed to making a little difference for families who use the service provided by this amazing charity,” says Daws.
