Our latest white paper proved that text messaging is more popular than ever and offers businesses the ability to cut through social media noise and build better relationships with their customers, members and employees through instantaneous communication.
In their latest industry reviews, the Business Reporter looked at how Textlocal are helping organisations see the potential the humble text message can deliver. Published in the print edition of the Sunday Telegraph this industry review used Textlocal’s latest findings to create an infographic demonstrating the growth in the use of SMS and how businesses, organisations and the public sector are delivering not just words alone, but also rich content – tickets, surveys and attachments, for example.
The supplement reported there are 83.7m active phone subscriptions in the UK, which is 1.3 phones per person. Compared to only 30 million Facebook users in the UK, text messaging proves to a a reach unmatched by any social media platform.
Email too struggles to compete with text messaging’s instantaneous reach. The Business Reporter states that 99% of text messages are delivered with 90% of them read within three minutes, compared to only an average of 23% for email. As the Business Reporter suggests: “That’s more than three-quarters of all business emails going straight into the digital bin”
Tried-and-tested business text messaging
Speaking to the Business Reporter, Jason Palgrave-Jones, managing director at Textlocal, explained:
“Companies of all sizes are beginning to understand the power of text messaging as an instant and highly effective communication platform.
“The technology has battled setbacks and misconception due to its misuse, but as an opt-in-only industry, the value of communicating with an audience of people who have chosen to hear offers and alerts from a business cannot be underestimated.”
