Since 2005, Textlocal has been helping businesses address their communication challenges, using its market-leading business mobile messaging platform - Messenger. The platform has been built on the principles of efficiency, integration and ease of use, along with some really useful services including forms, attachments, vouchers and campaign management tools to measure effectiveness. We will continue to innovate and build out new mobile services in Messenger that meet real business needs.
In October 2014, Textlocal was acquired by IMImobile, a global mobile technology company. This has enabled us to build out our international footprint, leveraging IMImobile's integration with mobile operators across 60 countries.
Our ethos is simple. A complete dedication to exceeding customer expectations, and this has been highly commended by industry experts. It's nice to put a face to a name, so below you'll find a little bit about the people behind Textlocal...
Alastair founded Textlocal as a bedroom start up and built 'version 1' of Messenger in 2005. His driving vision at the time was to introduce the power of mobile messaging to the mass market - simple, low cost instant communication for any business, service or community group.
Alastair studied Computer Science in Nottingham before working for the Defence giant QinetiQ, and then on several projects for The Met Office and European Air Traffic Control. He is now a mobile marketing expert and evangelist, and is happy to talk at length about mobile messaging or life in a start-up enterprise.
Jason joined Textlocal as Business Development and Client Services Director in 2011 and was appointed Managing Director in 2014. Based in our Chester office, he has over 25 years' experience working in various senior management and Board roles for brands like Capital Bank, Bank of Scotland, HBoS, Capital Incentives & Motivation and Accor Services. More recently he was UK General Manager for Argos and Homebase, part of The Home Retail Group.
In his spare time Jason is a keen sailor, country field sports enthusiast and a bit of a foodie!
James leads the technical operations based in our Malvern Office. An experienced developer, he oversees the development, implementation and support of the Messenger platform. He joined Textlocal in 2011, having worked in a variety of sectors, including local government and tourism, ISPs and retail.
James is a keen cyclist, and rides the 20 mile round trip to the office regularly.

Unlike many of our competitors, Textlocal has a dedicated in-house technical team. This gives us total control to build our technology to meet the changing needs of our customers. We work on the philosophy that, if a customer wants something new that would be useful for other customers, we develop and implement it quickly. This customer-led innovation is how our award-winning messaging solution has evolved. And if problems arise, customers have direct access to our technical support team, with most queries being resolved within the hour.
We've got a wide range of support documents available on our website to help you get started using Messenger. It's designed as a self-service platform, allowing you to access the features you need whenever you need them, but sometimes it's nice to have a more personal approach. That's where our On-Boarding team come in.
They're here to help you better understand the platform and ensure you have everything you need to get started with SMS. As well as one-to-one demonstrations, they run our helpful live webinar sessions, and are the source of all knowledge when it comes to starting out with SMS. What's more, they'll serve as a key point of contact for the first 12 months of your account, so there's always someone to hand when you need them.
Experienced with the management of a variety of SMS campaigns and formats for small businesses, our team of Account Managers will help you achieve the best results from your campaigns. They can keep you up to date with the latest services available in Messenger, helping to make sure you're maximising your investment.
For larger businesses that have more complex requirements, our Corporate Account Management team will work with you to gain a deeper understanding of your business needs and recommend the best solutions that meet them. They will support you through the implementation to make sure your services are ready on time, meaning that you can continue to provide a positive customer service to your clients and build long-lasting relationships.
