Sometimes it's nice to put a face to a name, so below you'll find a little bit about the people behind Textlocal...
Alastair founded Textlocal as a bedroom start up and built "version 1" of Messenger. His driving vision was to introduce the power of mobile messaging to the mass market - simple, low cost instant communication for any business, service or community group. He now leads a team of technology experts at the Malvern Hills Science Park, managing the flow of more than 30 million SMS texts per month, Customer Support and Product Development. Alastair studied Computer Science in Nottingham before working for the Defence giant QinetiQ, and then on several projects for The Met Office and European Air Traffic Control. He is now a mobile marketing expert and evangelist and is happy to talk at length any time about the subject with anyone who will listen!
Darren graduated from Loughborough University, and spent the next 20 years working his way up the ladder in numerous marketing roles working for famous brands like B&Q, HBOS, AIG and Dixons Stores Group. Over the last seven years, he has used his skills successfully bringing the Textlocal service to market. You may find him speaking about mobile at high profile events, or in the press. Darren is a member of the DMA Council.
Jason runs our Chester office, spearheading the Sales and Marketing function, which includes Customer Service, Client Services and Public Relations. After studying Business Management at the University of Wales, he has spent the past 25 years working in various senior management & Board roles for brands like Capital Bank, Bank of Scotland, HBoS, Capital Incentives & Motivation, Accor Services, and more recently as UK General Manager for Argos and Homebase as part of The Home Retail Group. In his spare time Jason is a keen sailor, country field sports enthusiast and a bit of a foodie!
James leads the technical functions from our Malvern Office. An experienced developer, he oversees the development, implementation and support of Textlocal's industry leading mobile messaging platforms. He is always happy to discuss solutions with customers and work out ways in which our systems can be improved or integrated with new partners/software via our APIs. He has worked in a number of sectors, including local government and tourism, ISPs and retail. James is a keen cyclist, and commutes the 20 miles to the office regularly.
Unlike many competitors, we have an in-house technical team giving us total flexibility to mould and develop our technology to suit the needs and desires of our customers. Our experienced team work on the philosophy that if a customer wants something new that would be useful for other customers, we can implement it freely and quickly. We are extremely proud of the fact that we can make technological changes and improvements to Messenger simply and directly in response to our customer feedback. This customer-led innovation is how many of our services have evolved. Our customers know that they have access at all times to technical support and most queries are dealt with within the hour.
